The Tadpoles is the social society which all members of CUSWPC are invited to join. Many socials are organized throughout the year, from formal halls or curries with other sporting societies (although these are usually a team rather than whole club events) to bops and clubbing to dinners (such as the Tadpoles Dinner and the Varsity Games Dinner) to ending May Week in style with the Tadpoles BBQ.
History of Cambridge University Tadpoles
The Tadpoles was formed in 1924 and the following note was written at the time: “A club has just been formed and named ‘the Tadpoles’ and will be run experimentally this season. Its object is to provide for swimmers opportunities for play and races which the CUSC [as CUSWPC was formally known] cannot give.”
Originally the Tadpoles Club was small, with a maximum of 30 members and it provided competition opportunities as well as being a social club.
