There are a number of opportunities for Open Water swimming at Cambridge. Every two years, Oxford and Cambridge battle it out in the Varsity Channel Relay Swim, with a team of six swimmers, with two reserves, from each University completing hour shifts until the job is done. In 2025 the race will take place between 11-17th July. There is also the annual Varsity Henley Classic, a 2.1km open water river-race down the Royal Henley Regatta course.
Training with the team will involve weekly sessions in Jesus Green Lido – a beautiful outdoor 91m pool in the heart of Cambridge.
We are currently fundraising for the swim to cover the costs of the boat and medicals, along with raising money for the UK charity Ocean Conservation Trust. Please consider donating at this page: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/openwaterswimming-cambridgeuniversity
