OPEN WATER SWIMMING

There are a number of opportunities for Open Water swimming at Cambridge. Every two years, Oxford and Cambridge battle it out in the Varsity Channel Relay Swim, with a team of six swimmers from each University completing hour shifts until the job is done. In 2023 the race will take place between 3rd-8th July. There is also the annual Varsity Henley Classic, a 2.1km open water river-race down the Royal Henley Regatta course.

Training with the team will involve weekly sessions in the River Cambridge, in the lake at Milton Country Park, and in Jesus Green Lido – a beautiful outdoor 91m pool in the heart of Cambridge.

The Poseidon Club is an active society that meet for an annual dinner and acts to support current students in both CUSWPC and OUSC in open water swimming events. The Club provide essential support such as funding and mentoring, particularly to the Channel swim teams.
